My new work is influenced by a print making workshop I took last summer. Returning to my studio I began using a printing brayer (roller) to apply oil paint to canvas - applying layer after thin layer, mixing colors on canvas, building a rich surface on which to continue my interest in shape and color.
Many of the shapes in my paintings may be suggestive of landscape, still life or architecture. However, my real interest is not so much depiction as it is the exploration of color and mark and shape and how these elements create content - a content that shifts between familiar and unfamiliar.
